A great year for Hindu Voice UK!

Hindu Voice UK, December 2006

Hindu Voice UK was borne to meet the unfulfilled need for a publication to articulate and record the experiences, lifestyle, viewpoints and culture of the fast evolving Hindu community of Britain, as well as providing a general news and entertainment resource.

From our first issue in January 2006, Hindu Voice UK has been a tremendous success. During the course of the year, we have gained a vast readership, expanding beyond Britain to include many other countries. With over 100,000 hits each month and over 80,000 readers (and growing steadily), we have emerged as one of the busiest and lively online communities, and many of our articles have been republished by many other publications, both online and print.

The secret behind Hindu Voice UK's success has been that we are writing about issues that are not being written about anywhere else; in a style that is not being used anywhere else. Although Hindu Voice UK has readers from all different age groups, we are first of all a voice for the YOUNG Hindus of Britain, and therefore our style is short, snappy and fun rather than long-winded. In this way, we have been able to spread awareness about all aspects of Hinduism in a lively and informative format.

Our success also lies in great part with you - our readers, who have contributed ideas, articles, and feedback to help keep us going. Publishing Hindu Voice UK has been a fascinating learning experience for us. We have learnt about our community and communicated personally with more Hindus than we ever would have done otherwise. We have had tonnes of feedback and correspondence, which has helped shape our subsequent issues. Through our surveys we have learnt a lot about the perspectives of our readers on a wide range of issues.

But perhaps most of all, the greatest feedback tool has been the STATCOUNTER, that simple yet ingenious tool which allows one to see the number of views that each article has received. One of the most interesting tasks in running Hindu Voice UK is seeing which articles have received the greatest number of views. It is a way for us to see which issues hold the greatest interest to the community that we cater for. It was interesting to find that the most successful articles were those that focused on explanations of Hindu imagery and stories, real-life experiences of young Hindus and contemporary Hindu issues.

The 10 most successful articles were:

All in all, Hindu Voice UK has had a very successful first year, and a big thanks is owed to you for helping to make it happen. But this is just the beginning. Next year Hindu Voice UK will be bigger, better and more stylish, so make sure you save us as one of your favourites and brace yourselves for a hitherto unseen level of innovation and excellence.
