Forced marriages and honour killings: does the problem exist amongst Hindus in Britain?

The issue of forced marriages and honour killings has once again become a matter of national debate after the brother and cousin of Samaira Nazir, 25, were sentenced to life imprisonment on 14th July, for her barbaric murder.

The British media usually highlights the matter of forced marriages and honour killings as an 'Asian problem', which would naturally mean that it affected Hindus too.

Yet none of the headline cases of these heinous crimes have involved Hindus. This has led some within the community to suggest that the problem is non-existent amongst Hindus living in Britain.

The fact is that there has been very little research in this field with regards to Hindus in Britain. Towards this end, we would like to know, from your own experience and perception; does the problem of forced marriage and/or honour killings exist amongst Hindus in Britain?
