Gallery: Ganesh Festival Hindu Voice UK, September 2006 The Ganesh Festival is a yearly event, celebrated
with great devotion and fervour in many parts of India, especially
Mumbai and Pune. It coincides with 'Ganesh Chaturthi', but is celebrated
over a longer period. Artists and sculptors create murtis of Lord
Ganesh, which are worshipped for several days, before eventually being
taken on a street procession and submerged in water. The festival
usually falls in late August or early September.
