68 Die as Pakistan-bound train bombed in India

At least 68 people were killed and dozens more injured as two bombs exploded on a train travelling from India to Pakistan.

The blasts, occurred on 18th February, on the Samjhauta Express, one of only two rail links between India and Pakistan, following an explosion thought to have been caused by suitcases packed with bombs and petrol.

Most of the victims were Pakistani nationals who were returning home after visiting relatives in India, many of whom were Hindus living in Pakistan's Sindh province.

Nothing is known as yet with regards to the suspects or motives in this latest terrorist attack on Indian soil. However, the attack has sparked a series of accusations and counter-accusations between the governments and media of the two countries.

Generally media reports have speculated the involvement of Muslim 'Jihadi' groups who wish to derail the India-Pakistan peace process, while sections of the Pakistani media have blamed the attack on 'Hindu extremists'.
